The object of a new year is not that we should have a new year. It is that we should have a new soul. —J.K. Chesterton
Sharing lessons learned and what I’m grateful for about 2011
For lessons learned in 2011, I’d call it the year of the “goodbyes.”
Sold my house.
Left a finance career of twenty-five years.
Lost my beloved pet.
Selling my home was a difficult decision. It took me three years to arrive at a place of “certainty” about doing it. What I learned is that I don’t miss owning it. I don’t miss 99 percent of my possessions which are now in storage. I don’t miss the upkeep and maintenance. The only thing I miss is the view as the house was built on the crest of a hill.
Saying goodbye to my career in finance wasn’t too hard. I’d outgrown that business long ago. The only thing that had been keeping me in the business was the paycheck. The funny thing is, when the paychecks started shrinking after the real estate bubble burst, the last little spark of interest I had for the business went out entirely.
Taking my little kitty, Stevie, to the veterinarian to be “put to sleep” was one of the hardest things I ever had to do. It was so much harder than selling a home I loved for nine years. I miss hearing his little “mews” and him greeting me at the door when I arrive home. He visits me in my dreams now. It’s not the same but, I’m always overjoyed after dreaming of him.
I have much to be grateful for in 2011
Powered by Intuition grew by leaps and bounds. I’m so very grateful to every reader and visitor for this. Thank you all so very much.
PbI was honored with three awards this year:
WE Magazine’s Woman Blogger to Watch in 2011
Top 50 Personal Development Blog Award
Each of them came as a wonderful surprise too. I want to say a big “thank you” to Steve Aitchison for all the work he did organizing the “Top 50 Personal Development Awards.”
I published my first Kindle book, “Navigating by Intuition – How to Follow the Signs.” (I want to send out a big thank you to Farnoosh & Andy Brock for their technical help with this.) The book has done very well considering I haven’t done much marketing on it.
Made my very first video and put it on You Tube this year. This was the video book trailer for, “Navigating by Intuition.” I was very pleased with how it turned out as well. I’m sending a big “thank you” to Mary Jaksch for her lovely comment on my video.
I started recording Podcast interviews with bloggers and authors for PbI. I found that I love doing it too. I took a little break to finish the final edits on my new book. You can look forward to more audio recordings in the near future though.
Wrote my very first ebook, “The Intuition Primer – Practical Lessons to Launch Your Intuition” I’m currently giving it away to subscribers as a “thank you” for signing up for my newsletter. (It will be coming down from the sidebar soon though.)
I’ll be publishing my first physical book in few weeks, “The Intuition Principle – How to Attract the Life You Dream Of.” I began writing it in March and just finalized it earlier this week. I’m so looking forward to sharing it with all of you. A pre-sale page will be available soon.
Contributed to four ebooks this year:
Great Life Philosophies Thank you to Joe Wilner for including me.
31 Days of Kindness Thank you to Alex Blackwell
Self Love Series Thank you to Evelyn Lim for including me.
The Positive Living Handbook Thank you Zeenat Syal for including me.
I also completed a new mini-course titled: 7 Days to Sharper Intuition that will be out soon and a workbook and guided meditations to go along with The Intuition Principle. (An ecourse for The Intuition Principle is next on my to-do list)
I also started a second blog: www.WriteaBookandBookMoreBusiness.com with friend and business partner, Rosemarie Monaco. This blog focuses on my other passion – self-publishing (as if you hadn’t guessed from all my books?). Hope to see you all over there!
There are many, many people to thank for the success of PbI. So many readers are wonderful bloggers who comment and share my posts on social media. I want you to know how much I appreciate each and every one of you.
Thank you all for making this a terrific year for PbI.
Blessings and Best Wishes for a Successful, Happy & Healthy New Year to all.
Angela

I always feel as if I’m not doing enough. That’s why this year I’m going to not make specific goals.
I loved contributing to your book and I’m so glad that it made for a great addition. Thank you for saying so!

Hi Angela,
It’s been great to get to know you in 2011. Thank you for all the inspiration and advice through your frequent blog posts and personal sessions.
It was tough saying goodbye to a new career I thought would see me through for the next 4 years, and I’m really grateful to get to know fellow lightworkers like you 🙂
Have a wonderful 2012 ahead!
Hi Bingz,
Happy New Year to you too! It’s such a pleasure having you visit.
I’m so happy we got to know each other too. You’re most welcome.
I love coaching and I’m so glad you got a lot out of our sessions.
That’s right. You had to let go of a career that didn’t suit you too.
I’m looking forward to meeting you when you move here.:-)
Best wishes with the new baby and all you’ll be doing this coming year.
Angela
Hi Angela,
I got goosebumps after the second paragraph. I think because yesterday I listened and made my big decision that took me out of my fear and run and into the light. xo
Hi Tess,
I’m so glad you’re following your intuition too!
It’s our own inner radar device. It knows when we are headed for emotional calamity and will try to warn us!
Warning, warning Tess Marshall!
Don’t go there!
Glad you’re feeling calmer and better.
xoxo,
Angela
Hi Angela,
What a great year you’ve had! I also said goodbye to a beloved pet, a little pug we’d rescued. It is so difficult, and I still miss her, nearly a year later. But I’m so pleased for all your other accomplishments. I’m really looking forward to 2012.
Charlotte
Hi Charlotte,
It’s great to see you!
I’m so sorry to hear about your pug.
I completely understand how you feel.
I wish you the best in 2012 too!
Congratulations on everything you have done and accomplished this past year! It was truly a pleasure to speak with you and get to know you a bit through the site, and I hope 2012 will unfold magically for you…
Hi Julie,
Thank you so much. When you list everything it looks like a lot but it’s not, really.
It took a whole year to do that stuff!
I’m looking forward to getting to know you even better this year.
I do wish you the same about 2012. I hope it becomes one of your best years ever!
WOW! You were movin’ and shakin’ this year for sure, Angela! You do so much to bring awareness to using one’s intuition in practical, concrete ways. I am indebted to you for shining (and continuing to shine) a light on my path.
Wishing you much success and many, many blessings in 2012! I’ll be right here, following along!
Lisa,
It has been so gratifying for me to get to know you too!
I’m honored to call you a friend. I look forward to collaborating with you in the future.
I wish you a wonderful new year where all your dreams come true!
Angela
You have certainly accomplished much during the year! It is as if you are everywhere LOL! I see an update or post published by you on a frequent basis. It is obvious that you have been put in a lot of time and energy online. I am very impressed and often wonder how you do it.
Coincidentally, my next post is also on a list of thank yous. It is already written and scheduled to be published in a day or two. Nonetheless, I would like to take the opportunity now to express my gratitude to you. I have been blessed by the grace of your friendship. I hope to look into more collaborations with you next year.
Love and abundance always,
Evelyn
Evelyn,
I feel the same way!
I was thinking yesterday as I wrote the post of how lucky I am to have met so many wonderful people through my blog, and of course you are one of them.
The true joy of blogging is meeting so many awesome people and then forming friendships.
When I was growing up it the “thing” to have penpals since we didn’t even know what an Internet was, and I loved it.
I guess blogging appeals to me in the same way.
I so look forward to helping you with your book(s) and any other projects you’re planning on doing.
All my best to you in the coming year! May it be a hugely successful one for you.
Angela
Angela,
Its been a while since I last came by, and boy! there’s so much development going on around here. Congratulations!
My acknowledgement and respect for your willingness to let go the emotional knots – your house, your career and your pet.
And I do agree that as much as we are all looking forward to 2012, it is really good to spend some time to acknowledge our achievements.
As we look at the gems we had collected on our way here, it gives us more empowering encouragement to continue to believe in ourselves.
Happy New Year to you Angela and everyone. May this be a great year for all of us!
Joseph, What a pleasure to see you!
I’ve been busy.
I had hoped to make 2011 my “break-out” year but, perhaps it has been more of a “building up to it” year.
Thank you for your kind wishes~
I wish you a wonderful new year full of happiness and success!
Angela,
I too had wanted to “break-out” sooner, since discovering my true passion in personal development.
But I guess regardless of how hard I push myself, it is still hard to go any faster than I could have been, and it does wear me down when things are not going my way.
So I am kinda trying to change my strategy now, to at least enjoy every step.
I certainly hope we get to share with each other that 2012 becomes our “break-out” year.
Best wishes there!
Hi Joseph,
Don’t beat yourself up. Personal Development is a very tough area. There is so much competition with a gazillion blogs out there. The only way to grow it is through writing good solid useful posts. Once people find you they’ll stick to you and it will grow at it’s own pace.
If you wanted a blog that grows really fast you have to write about how to make money. If that’s not you’re really interested in it’s hard to do day after day. Your better off writing about something you’re really interested in.
I’ve been growing Powered by Intuition for 2 years. It takes time and hard work – lots of hard work.
You have the right attitude. Just enjoy it and keep on doing what you’re doing. It’ll happen.
Best wishes for a fabulous new year~!
Angela
Angela,
I truly appreciate your encouraging words.
I have found that talking about self-development is my way of expressing myself. I agree eye to eye with you that it is a tough market, but at the end, I ask myself Why do I want to enter this market?
I realized that as much as I want to have more engagement on my blog and business, the true reason I want to be in this field is to help make the world a better place through helping people develop themselves.
It is a tough journey, but I will continue to do what I do, say what I got to say, and I trust the way will be shown to me bit by bit.
Thank you again for offering your words of encouragement.
Joseph,
You’re so welcome. Your blog is great. Just keep on doing what you’ve been doing and you will be helping the world.
All my best to you for 2012.
Angela
Angela,
Congrats on the wonderful accomplishments over the past year! It’s a great feeling to look back at all the achievements we have had as we go forward into another season of our life. It was a pleasure to get to know you and collaborate this year, and I’m very grateful for all the wisdom you share here. I wish you all the best in 2012!
Hi Joe,
It has been a pleasure getting to know you as well.
It’s truly the relationships that we form online that make blogging such a joy.
I owe you much gratitude. Writing the article for your ebook is what made me realize I had the basis for an entire book!
All my best to you. I look forward to more collaborative work with you this year.
Happy New Year!
Angela
