To Live a Successful Life – Turn Up the Volume of Your Inner Voice
The only real valuable thing is intuition. – Albert Einstein
Learn to follow your intuition and you’ll be inspired to live a brilliant and meaningful life.
This is the foundation of my philosophy and my advice for anyone who is looking to live a “significant and successful life.”
What does living a “significant and successful life” look like?
Significant means that your work is centered around service to others, and to be successful means that your life works and is balanced in all facets.
Successful doesn’t necessarily mean great wealth, although it can. Balance is the key here.
It does means though that:
- You’re happy and enjoy your life
- You have healthy relationships
- You’re able to give as well as receive
- You take care of your body and eat sensibly and exercise
- You are devoted to your spiritual growth and have a daily spiritual practice that helps keep stress in check
- You are open to new ideas and constantly learning
- You live in comfort and have what you need to feed your family and pay your bills and to save some money.
This is not to say that you will live a problem free life – that is an impossibility. You will, however, be better equipped to deal with challenges than the next person due to the substantial advantages that developing your intuition brings you.
The truth is developing your intuition has many benefits to help you succeed in all areas of your life such as:
- Reduced stress levels
- Improves focus
- Improve memory
- Improves decision-making
- Improves relationships
- Improves health
- Heightens creativity
- Boosts problem solving skills
- Operate at the genius level
These important reasons are why I recommend developing intuition and why I have made it the foundation of my own self-development.
Developing your intuition is the most exciting thing you can do and the most exciting way to live your life.
You will be inspired through hearing the voice of your intuition and led by the currents of life directly to your divine purpose.
To find your divine purpose is to live life with passion and enthusiasm which is the hallmark of a life that stands apart from all others.
And it is the ability to listen to intuition that sets apart a leader from a follower.
When we learn to hear our intuition and trust it to guide us we will begin the most exciting journey of our lives.
Signs will appear, synchronous events arise, and coincidences will increase as you meet the person you need to meet at the right time because you followed a hunch, or read about just the very thing you need to do for your next step, or get a flash of intuition about the solution to a problem, etc.
So don’t wait. Learn to still your mind and allow the wisdom of your intuition to reveal your glorious path.

Before you go I want to mention that I’m a member of the A-List Blogging Club. When I first started blogging in 2008 I was overwhelmed and totally clueless about the process. The only people who read my blog were my friends and I gave up after 5 months!
In January 2010 I started PBI and found A-List Blogging Boot Camps. I did my first boot camp in February and what a difference my blogging experience has been. I learned so much and as you can see I did not give up.
I’d been a fan of Leo Babauta’s blog, Zen Habits, since my first “failed” blog, so when I got an email telling me about the A-List Blogging bootcamp I knew this time I had to take action to save this blog from failure too. I could tell from Leo’s blog that he was honest and genuine and that the course wouldn’t be a waste of money like so many are. So, I trusted my intuition and jumped with both feet into the first bootcamp and – thank goodness I did!
Do yourself a favor if you’re a new blogger don’t struggle alone like I did. Take a look – just click on the links here on PBI. The information you’ll gain through the clubs, not to mention the friendships you’ll make, is invaluable and worth every penny and more. Mary Jaksch runs the blogging club and she is so helpful and a wealth of knowledge – don’t miss this opportunity. Your blog will thank you – I promise!
P.S. – A new bootcamp begins this Friday and doors close on enrollment this Thursday Feb. 24th so don’t wait!

Hi Angela,
It has taken me many years to trust my own inner wisdom. I thought I needed the approval and feedback from others before I could make decisions or act on many things. I have finally learned that I am the only one who really knows what is best for me — even if it means not getting positive feedback from others. That has been a crutch, and now it is so liberating to trust my intuition. It rarely leads me astray. Thank you for the lovely post, and congrats on being featured in so many terrific publications.
Hi Barrie,
I think the quote: You’re not getting older, you’re getting wiser – is appropriate here! I feel the same way. I too had difficulty taking my own advice and second guessed my decisions for many years.
Beautiful! I love the way you’ve expressed this: “It is so liberating to trust my intuition.” Yes! That’s it exactly. I think you get to a point in your life where you stop seeking approval and start to trust your gut and it is exactly as you say, liberating. That’s the perfect word.
Thanks so much for the congratulations too!
Great excerpt, Angela. I just agree with everything you say, although I don’t always express it the same way.
You might be interested in the last paragraph of my latest post 😉
Hi Gail,
Thanks so much. I love the way you’ve expressed yourself! I didn’t even notice that you’d directed me to the last paragraph of your post!
Thanks so much for mentioning me on Lightworkers Anonymous. I really enjoyed your article.
And, thank you so much for coming by and commenting too.
Hi Angela
Working with and connecting on a deeper level to my intuition has been an incredible gift in my life. I feel like Joy that it is my compass. Although I have not always given my intuition the attention it deserved and it is still far from being used to my fullest potential, being at the point I am now I cannot imagine living life without it. I thus look forward to continuing the journey of expanding my intuition and being a more conscious listener to its incredible guidance.
It is so incredible that we have this amazing built-in guidance system which we can use to navigate life. And I completely second all the benefits you shared above that we can gain from tapping into our intuition.
Thank you also for pointing out that success isn’t always the typical material definition society gives us… in fact true success to me rarely has anything to with those things.
Hi Evita,
Thank you for coming to visit. It’s a pleasure to welcome you to PBI.
I completely agree with what you’re saying. I haven’t always utilized my intuition either when it came to making decisions for myself. I was always much better as an intuitive counselor to others. When I started PBI I made the decision that I would now be listening to my intuition 100 percent going forward. It has been an incredible journey so far.
I have found out the hard way that happiness has little to do with being wealthy and having material possessions. I used to think it did and spent my adult life “building security” and acquiring wealth. I’m much happier now that I’m focused on doing what makes me happy rather than on doing something I detest solely for the big paycheck.
It’s lovely to have you come by and share your perspective Evita! Thank you.
Love your description of a “Significant and successful life.”
Looks like a great Ebook too 🙂
Hi Aileen,
I’m glad you enjoyed the post. Yes, the book is full of many great contributions from some terrific bloggers.
I think sometimes we forget about our inner voice. This is what we listen to. Nothing else. I had a situation today. I was given an opportunity to do real estate. I told someone. They ragged on the situation. My inner feelings said do it. So i did. I no longer listen to what other people say. I’m going to be self- realized!
Jonathan,
That’s great! If your inner feeling said do it and you listened you’re doing great with hearing your intuition. The tricky part is when there is a lot at stake in your life and you have to take a leap of faith. That’s when really trusting your intuition through having had past experiences with it that were positive is so important. You sound as if you’re well on your way! Thank you so much for coming by.
Hi Angela,
I love reading your posts on intuition best. I really want to continue to follow intuition and you always give such great ideas. Love the Einstein quote, too!
Hi Betsy,
That one of my favorite quotes on intuition. It doesn’t hurt that it’s by Einstein either!
I’m glad you enjoy my articles on intuition. It’s my passion and pleasure to share what I’ve learned about intuition over the last “ehem” xx years of my life!
Hi Angela,
“Learn to follow your intuition and you’ll be inspired to live a brilliant and meaningful life.” I love and share your philosophy in life. That is probably why I like your blog so much. 😀
I remember what it was like before I took measures to develop my intuition. I felt as if I was groping in the dark. There was always a lot of fear and a lot of unwise decisions. No matter where I turned, I could not find peace or security. But when I learned to rely on my intuition, I learned to manage my fears in the process. Over time, the inner peace that I sought for so long had the right conditions to manifest. I knew how to manage change and how to live my life.
Thank you for sharing this article! 🙂
Irving the Vizier
Hi Irving,
I’m so glad you enjoyed the article. I know you share my philosophy and I’m sure that’s why I enjoy your blog so much too!!
It’s true once you learn how to rely on your intuition a natural outgrowth of doing so is a big increase in your confidence level. There are so many ways intuition helps us in our lives. The fact that it’s been so overlooked for years as a practical ability to develop is beyond me!
Angela,
Every single bulleted point is priceless. Who doesn’t want all of that?
Ditto times 10 on every point you make about A-List Blogger Club. Woot woot! I’m not sure we’d be friends if we didn’t join. That says it all doesn’t it?
Hi Tess,
I’m glad you enjoyed the article.
I think we were friends before you joined A-List!! Anyway, I’m glad you did! I found it invaluable! What a learning curve blogging is? I’m glad I had so much great support from the club.
Right on point and powerful as usual, Angela. When we attend to our inner guidance system first, all those other things we desire start to come to us. The more we plunge into our intuition, the more surprised we are just how easy it is to attract prosperity of every nature!
Rob,
As usual I agree with you 1000 percent! It’s so true when we start doing more of what we love to do we also start attracting more opportunities and consequently more prosperity. Why don’t they teach us that in schools?
Thank you so much for coming by and sharing your wisdom and insights with us.
Angela,
This idea of intuition is something I’ve been focusing more on recently. And what I’m finding is that when I do that, I just feel a sense of “right” within me (I was going to say “sense of peace”, except there are some moments where it is really more “giddy excitement”!).
Anyway, when I am living from this place of really listening to “me”, I feel a harmony within my life. And that’s a great place to “be”…
Lance,
I love how you’ve expressed what listening to your intuition feels like:
I just feel a sense of “right” within me (I was going to say “sense of peace”, except there are some moments where it is really more “giddy excitement”!).
Anyway, when I am living from this place of really listening to “me”, I feel a harmony within my life. And that’s a great place to “be”…
That’s how I feel at times too! Either a sense of calm knowing, or giddy excitement!
It’s true when we follow our intuition we do experience harmony in our lives. It’s when we fight to push the boulder uphill thinking we should be doing this or that – that we find our lives out of balance and inharmonious.
Thank you so much for stopping by to chat with us here today! It’s a pleasure to have you.
Hi Angela,
My intuition is my compass. My life is as magical as I allow it to be. My life is also a bit unconventional because I allow my intuition to guide me to places some would not choose to go..there are times I have a choice to “fit in” or to listen..in the end, I listen. Now my young children are developing their listening skills, it’s amazing to watch yet it’s also odd because sometimes I find I want to steer them toward “mainstream” to avoid possible “pain”. Yet, pain is inevitable when we listen and go the other way…
Hi Joy,
I think you live a pretty amazing life! To be able to attribute it to following your intuition is a real testimony to the power of connecting to our inner wisdom. It knows what’s good for us, better than we do with our logical minds!
I’m so glad you’re teaching your children to live this way too. When I was growing up we were encouraged to follow the rules and completely disregard our intuition. I took me several decades to “deprogram” myself and consequently I made a lot of mistakes in my life. I think you’re children will thank you someday!
As a person who lived a good part of her life in her head, I had a hard time trusting that my intuition was reliable. But once I caught on, it became my most trusted advisor. I have learned to hear what my rational mind has to say, then turn to my intuition for deeper guidance. If they are not in sync, I go with my gut. I’m never sorry.
Galen,
You’ve summed it up so perfectly. I love how you said this:
I have learned to hear what my rational mind has to say, then turn to my intuition for deeper guidance. If they are not in sync, I go with my gut. I’m never sorry.
That’s awesome advice. I agree go with your gut and you’ll never be sorry.
Thanks so much for visiting and adding so much to the conversation here!
I never knew how important listening to our intuition was until a few years ago. I realized that the intuitive voice can be very wise and knows far more than what the conscious mind tells me. I have tuned into it to know what decisions to make.
Hi Evelyn,
It’s hard for us ‘bankers’ to grasp. We’re so used to facts and data to make decisions. Yes, it’s amazing isn’t it how it knows far more than the logical mind? What a great adventure to rely on our intuition!
Angela: Great post. You had me at the first line … “Learn to follow your intuition and you’ll be inspired to live a brilliant and meaningful life.” I think that is such amazing advice and such wisdom. Developing and following your intuition is such an important thing. I loved your contribution to the book. Really great advice and information.
Hi Sibyl,
I’m glad you enjoyed this post. I really and truly do believe this with all my heart. We can live inspired and brilliant lives when we take that leap of faith and follow our intuition. Thank you for you kind words about my contribution to Joe’s book. I absolutely adored what you wrote as well. I cannot wait for the book to be out tomorrow so we can share it with everyone!
Thanks Angela for the reminder to use my inner voice.
Since you gave me your highly useful psychic sessions, I have opened myself to listening more and more to my inner voice. And you know what, it works amazingly well!
Thanks for all the inspiration.
Hi Arvind,
My pleasure! I’m glad the psychic readings we did were helpful to you. I aim to please!
It only takes a short time of focusing on the inner voice to switch from hearing only directives from the ego to hearing your intuition.
I’ve no doubt you’re hearing yours and being led in the right direction.
Crank up that internal dial and listen to the sweetest most inspiring sound you could ever dream of – your intuition. It talks, guides, heals, and empowers you. Beyond logic and reason because it know more than mental awareness could ever grasp. Trust intuition, switch on your spiritual SatNav!
Great article that duly deserves to be included in a Joe’s excellent Life Philosophies Angela – hopefully the newest and brightest one of all!!
Hi John,
Yes – do crank it up! You’ve summed it up so well – it does know more than our mental awareness could ever grasp.
You are so sweet – thank you. Joe did a fabulous job of putting the book together. All the contributions are brilliant!
Hi Angela
Beautifully stated: Learn to follow your intuition and you’ll be inspired to live a brilliant and meaningful life. I’ve been working lately on tuning into my inner guidance more and more. I read “Listening” by Lee Coit and he uses his inner guidance for every decision that he makes. It’s wonderful when we get to the state that for everything that we do our “ego” takes second place and our higher self is the first voice to guide us. Something to look forward to. 🙂
Thanks for you wisdom. Loving blessings!
Hi Andrea,
“Listening” sounds like a marvelous book. That’s exactly what I suggest here on Powered by Intuition. When we learn to live by following our intuitive guidance and take the fear out of our decision making our lives will be extraordinary and they will flow beautifully toward our higher good and higher purpose. Thank you so much for visiting and sharing your wise insights here.
Hi Angela,
This is such great advice. I’ve found that I’m more “tuned in” to my inner voice at certain points throughout my life. It takes practice and focus, and sometimes I get so wrapped up in the daily stresses of life that I tune out and don’t hear — or heed — the hunches I’m receiving.
Being more mindful of my own intuition is a top priority for me. Thank you for your wonderful and inspiring blog. I’ve just recently found it, and it has inspired me already.
Hi Jenny,
I’m so glad you’re finding the articles helpful to you in your life. That’s my intention!
It’s such a pleasure seeing you again and hearing from you here in the comments section.
Keep following your intuition and it will lead you to your own personal pot of gold – I promise.
Angela,
What an electric article. This is my favorite line: “Developing your intuition is the most exciting thing you can do and the most exciting way to live your life.” I’m convinced! Sign me up! I’m ready to go!
Hi Sandra,
Thank you so much.
I wrote a post (it’s there somewhere) about a book I read maybe 25 years ago about a woman that decided to follow her intuition for every decision she made. Her intuition took her to places she hadn’t dreamed of and she ended up having the most magnificent and exciting life. I vowed to do that after reading her book, but allowed fear to overrule my decisions and ended up having a good life – but not the exciting one I dreamed of. So, now I’m starting over and living 100 percent intuitively. It’s proving to be pretty exciting so far!
I’m glad your convinced and on board. Stay tuned!
Angela,
You cover the gamut of benefits and application for intuition in this article. Thanks so much for offering such a thoughtful and comprehensive article to the ebook, and thanks for sharing it here!
Hi Joe,
Thanks for including me in the book. It was my pleasure to contribute an article. I can’t wait for the big launch on Monday.
Hmmm, well, I can honestly say that listening to my intuition has made my life a LOT more interesting. You know what I’m talking about! I think that most of the areas of my life are pretty good, although more money never hurts, if only to be able to give it away!
So when is your book coming out, Angela Awesome? I want to read THAT! I mean, it’s been like, a week. I can’t wait! 😛
Hi Anna,
I made some HUGE mistakes in my life by not listening to my intuition. I’m kind of thick in the head – I can dish it out for others as an intuitive, but when it came to my own intuition I was not confident enough to listen – until the Universe kicked me in the “arse” a few times! It does make your life so much better when you listen. And yes – I know what you’re talking about!
Haha! Yes, it has been a whole week! I’m probably going to need 2 weeks to write my book! LOL.
Very true Angela! That inner voice is ALWAYS there. The question becomes “do we choose to listen?” And if we are not listening to our inner voice/intuition, what are we listening? Just our logic?
The more often we can tap in, engage, and really understand and follow our intuition the better off we will be…
Thanks for sharing!
Dom
Dom,
You’ve put it so well! I couldn’t agree more. We have to learn how to discern the voice of logic from our intuitive voice. Many times our logic is driven by underlying fears rather than by what is truly supported by the Universe. It’s a process that takes time and attention to develop.
A good reminder Angela about the power of our inner voices. I’ve found that when I listen to mine, it’s seldom wrong. So, I’m learning to listen to my inner voice more now than I ever have – and I’m finding my choices, and decisions, are better ones as a result.
Alex
Hi Alex,
Yes, it’s amazing how “right” our own inner guidance system is if we only allow ourselves to listen to it. I’m glad you’ve listened to yours and that it has helped steer you in the right direction in your choices and decisions. I loved the article you contributed to Joe’s book!
As always, Angela, our posts are a wealth of helful and eye-opening inforamtion. I enjoy being reminded about the value of following your intuition. Mostly, your tips and exercises are helpful and they work!
Hi Rosemarie,
Thank you so much. I need to remind myself to follow my intuition too – that’s why I keep on writing about it. I’m not giving in to the panic we spoke about the other day. I’m staying the course and following my intuition this time!
