Have you ever been so happy about something that you couldn’t sit still?
Or, so joyous that you sang out loud before remembering there were other people around? I”m sure it’s happened to each of us at one time or another.
I have a confession – it happens to me more than most.
Whenever I feel excited about the things I’m doing I get a spike in energy that makes me me want to move about. I feel this energy is the vibration of joy itself. I find I can’t sit still, but have to get up and skip, or dance, or throw my arms up in the air and scream, “Yay!” Anything to release the pressure of the energy inside.
I also make up little songs when I’m happy.
I have rhyming button in my head that gets tripped sometimes and out come these little jingles:
Little by little, and day by day, I know everything’s gonna be okay.
Now I know I’m not going to win any music awards with these little jingles, but when the feeling of joy comes over me I have to express it. When I was in elementary school I belonged to the Glee club. We met 2x a week to practice, and put on shows at assembly. Why would they call what was essentially a choir group a Glee club? Singing always puts me in a better mood; you might even call it gleeful.
Some days it’s hard to be happy
The reason I bring this up is because earlier this week I wasn’t feeling so happy. Things have been a tad challenging financially and I was starting to get that sick panicky feeling in the pit of my stomach. I didn’t want to allow myself to wallow in this emotion of fear and I didn’t want it to take such hold of me that I couldn’t shake it off. I decided I better bring up my vibration right away.
I put on some fun music and jumped onto my treadmill and did 30 minutes. I sang at the top of my lungs the whole time and I ended up feeling so good by the end I raced up the basement stairs with my arms outstretched like I’d just won an Olympic medal. Moving and singing made an enormous difference in my mood and outlook. Plus, by the end of the 1/2 hour I was smiling again – and that made me feel terrific too.
Getting dressed for work I kept singing one of my little songs over and over, and you know the day didn’t turn out so bad. I got calls from two new clients and when I came home there was a check in my mailbox. It wasn’t a big check, but still it was money. I know the check would have been there anyway, but I was in such a better mood that I also appreciated it much more too. Tuning into the emotion of joy made me feel more vibrant and alive, and anyone coming in contact with me could feel it too. When you feel life is good – it is.
Moving, singing, dancing and smiling raise our vibration
When you think about it, singing and dancing, or moving are things that make us feel really good. Getting a smile from someone or giving a smile also increases our happiness. These things not only lift our spirits but raise our energy or frequency levels. Each emotion has it’s own frequency as well. I don’t think there’s anyone who would disagree that there’s a marked difference between being around someone who’s joyous and someone who’s depressed. The frequency level that we emit has everything to do with how other people respond to us. I’m much more attracted to be around the joyous person, aren’t you?
Love and joy are two of the highest emotions anyone of us can experience and the frequency they emit is much higher than emotions such as anger, or fear. No wonder we can’t sit still when we’re really excited about something – the vibration of joy is so much faster that it makes us want to move.
Release your inner tuning fork!
When you emit the frequency of joy you’re tuning in to one of the highest the vibrations in the Universe. You lock into that frequency and move in the universal flow where all is perfection. Syncing up to this vibration opens the floodgates to your good by aligning your frequency with pure goodness the true the essence of life.
So, the next time you find your spirits sinking, or you just want to whip up some instant good remember these simple tips:
1. Put on some lively music
2. Start singing. Don’t be shy – belt it out!
3. Or make up your own happy jingle.
2. Then move those feet and dance until you feel you’re whole body is smiling.
You will feel better – and you’re day will go better when you’re a joy magnet. Try it and share how it affected your day.
How could focusing on the joy in life make a difference in your life? Have you tried this? What happened?

I want to thank fellow blogger, Daylle Deanna Schwartz for being the inspiration for this post. I subscribe to her wonderful blog: Lessons From A Recovering Doormat She wrote a great post about generating emotion and gratitude when working with the Law of Attraction, and I left a comment on her blog in which I referred to my doing a little “jig of joy” when I’m happy – which spurred this post. Thanks Daylle!

Hi Angela,
Thanks a bunch for letting me know about this post. I really enjoyed it.
I liked your story about how you shifted your vibration by running on the treadmill for 30 minutes while listening to fun music (and singing along!).
It’s very inspiring to know that we have the ability to shift our vibration to positive. I’ve gotten in the habit lately of reminding myself to choose to be in a good mood if I am ever not in one.
Hi Greg,
I’m glad you enjoyed it and got something out of it! On my way to my office today I was in a pissie mood myself – and suddenly it hit me – it’s a choice I was choosing to be in this dark serious heavy mood. I decided then and there to LET IT GO and shift my vibration – and I did. I feel so much better – and like my old self. Life is good – even when you have problems. It beats the alternative, right?
Oftentimes, when my day is depressing, I try to think of those happy moments that bring joy into my life or think of the good things that may come. This always works wonders in my days of gloom. 🙂
Hi Walter, Thanks so much for stopping by and joining in the conversation. Definitely, bringing up the good feelings we’ve associated with certain memories is a great way to boost your mood. You know when you stop to think about it, our lives are really the sum total of our memories. I’d much rather frame my life in pleasant memories. I hope you don’t have too many days of gloom though!
Another great post, Angela! Thank you again. Have to go–and move!
Mary, thank you. You’re too funny though! Glad you enjoyed the post. I know I framed the article about raising your vibration in metaphysical terms, but of course there’s a whole medical basis for why moving our bodies makes us feel so good. I would say endorphins are the Universe’s way of raising our vibration.
Arvind, thanks for sharing. I’m so glad to know that you’re a fellow joy magnet! I find joy to be infectious. I smile even when I’m on the telephone with people. I believe the warmth and joy in my heart is transmitted to them just as surely as our conversation. Have a great day!
Angela, what a great post. I couldn’t stop myself from moving as I read it!
I usually jump up and down on a rebounder for a few minutes with some catchy music in the background – and that immediately puts me in a more joyous state. Actually, the music is not even in the background – it’s loud:-)
Usually when I am writing on my computer, I listen to meditational music for a while and then every hour I get up and move around, whilst listening to salsa music, Gypsy Kings or Santana. Always work to make me a “joy magnet” as you have so eloquently described this joyous way of being.
Thank you
