Have you shelved your childhood dreams in favor of doing what’s practical?
Or, worse yet, have you no clue whatsoever as to what your passion is?
- Do you see yourself leading hikers through Yosemite, but when you look around see only the upholstered walls of your cubicle?
- .
- Or do you dream of creating one of kind hand sewn quilts and selling them at craft fairs instead of making change behind a teller’s window?
So many of us opt to do what’s practical to pays the bills instead of what’s in our hearts. We reach a point, maybe it’s in college or even before where the light of our dream goes dim, and then sputters out.
Why is that?
I think it has to do with that critical “other person” that lives within us. You know the one that deflates our dreams and tells us we can’t do it – it won’t work – we need to have a real job – we don’t have a creative bone in our body?
The problem with this kind of thinking is that over time it kills our dreams. And soon we begin to doubt that our passions were serious, or important, in the first place.
Has this happened to you?
It happened to me.
I was intuitive at a young age. I began reading the Tarot at 10, and doing astrology charts by hand from age 12 – but when it came time to choose a major in college, I went into finance. I was so young, yet I’d already lost touch with my dreams and passion.
Eventually I stopped doing readings and astrology charts for people and began thinking it had just been the silly interests of a young girl. At the same time I became more and more unhappy with my life.
I finally reconnected with my true passion in my 40s – thank goodness, but had I reconnected earlier I could have saved myself years of agony.
Last week I was fortunate enough to receive an advance copy of: Discover Your Passion: A Step-By-Step Course for Creating the Life Of Your Dreams, by Barrie Davenport of Live Bold & Bloom, a friend, fellow blogger and colleague of mine at The Daily Brainstorm, where she’s editor in chief.

This course is exactly the kind of resource I wish I’d had all those years ago when I was confused and unsure about my path. I was hooked from the moment I read this:
Imagine for a moment it is one year from now . . .
You are looking back at the person you are today, wondering how you could have stayed stuck in your old life for so long.
- You are a new person now — someone who wakes up every morning ready to seize the day.
- You are energized and full of ideas and inspiration.
- You are enthusiastic and excited to get started.
- Your life is fulfilling — it’s beyond fulfilling. It is passionate.
Everything you do now is aligned with who you are and who you want to be. Every moment is a golden nugget of opportunity which you treasure immensely, because you are on the path that is perfect for you.
Your life is fun, adventurous, peaceful, exciting, challenging, engaging, and meaningful. You have a deep curiosity and a well-spring of hunger to learn and to do more.
You have a clear road map for every decision you make. Your relationships are uplifting, and the people around you support and accept the real you, just the way you are.
The world is your oyster, and you have discovered the pearl. The pearl is the passion inside of you, just waiting to be extracted.
Of course, life still has its ups and downs, but you have a sense of general calm and confidence that helps you ride through these storms. You are in control. You don’t feel stuck, confused, or hopeless, because in spite of any setbacks or unexpected problems, you have a vision for your life that is bigger than any temporary upset.
Okay, now come back to the present moment — the life you are currently living and the person you are right now.
Are you feeling excited? Is your enthusiasm growing? Do you hear the faint whisper of your passion calling again?
And, this is is only the beginning. Barrie’s course is a treasure chest of guidance, ideas, and tools to help you rekindle and nurture the flame you once had for your passion, or to discover it once and for all.
Barrie’s course: Discover Your Passion: A Step-By-Step Course for Creating the Life of Your Dreams opened my eyes to new ways I could express my passion more fully. Needless to say, I’m elated about that.
Barrie’s course also helped me realize that my passions aren’t silly, or castles in the air – they’re worth pursuing – and so are yours!
Barrie has used her coaching work and her workshop curriculum to create a self-study course to guide YOU on the path to finding your passion.
Here’s what you will get from Discover Your Passion:
- A better understanding of your personality, motivations, values, and skills.
- A clear picture of what makes you happy and what you don’t like.
- A sense of what is holding you back, getting in your way, causing you fear, limiting your growth, and keeping you stagnant.
- A vision of your ideal life lived with passion.
- A strategy combined with action steps for making that ideal life a reality.
- A schedule for taking those actions.
- A system of accountability for making sure to ensure you follow through, refine, and build upon your new life.
Barrie has created the ultimate course to address the dilemma of finding your passion and life direction. Even though I thought I’d finally gotten a handle on what my true passions were – I still learned much more about myself and what I’m capable of from her course.
If you feel you’re floundering and lack the direction knowing your true passion would give you – you owe it to yourself to check out: Discover Your Passion: A Step by Step Course for Creating the Life of Your Dreams.

What you say is very true. Be practical. Have a trade or skill that you can fall back on. Sound familiar?
Most of us do not have the luxury of living our dreams. We’ve been sold the nightmare of society which is to live to work to earn money to live and perhaps end off our lives with enough to survive on. A dreamless life at best.
Our dreams should be those things that inspire and motivate us to set ourselves free from things that hold us in bondage to a way of life we’ve created.
Here’s to living your dream and inspiring our children to follow theirs as well.

Hi Andre,
Yes, you’ve described the way we’ve all been indoctrinated perfectly. It seems crazy to me now that I look back over my life to have wanted to spend 24/7 climbing the corporate ladder to make a lot of money. What for? I never had the time to enjoy it.
It is time to teach our children there is another way – you’re absolutely right.
Thanks for the wake-up call Angela.
There is a struggle inside of me regarding doing what I “should,” compared to following my passion. Children, bills and saving for retirement all tell me to keep living in two worlds, but my faith tells me one day I can live in only one.
Alex
Hi Alex,
Yes, better late than never, right?
I got my wake up call about 5 years ago, and I too am still living in two worlds. I feel like a round peg in a square hole. I just can’t “make” myself be this super salesperson any longer.
I know it will happen for you eventually Alex. Just keep on doing what you’re doing! You’re such a fabulous writer and motivator – you’ll get there.
I always think of the tale of the tortoise and the hare – by nature I’m the tortoise – and according to the fable that’s a good thing!
I have recently discovered Barrie and love what she has to say.
Does she offer the affiliate opportunity to everyone? I do a lot of affiliate marketing & help others get started as well.
Thanks for the info…
Hi Carolee,
Yes, I love Barrie too. She’s awesome as far as I’m concerned.
I absolutely think she’d love to have you as an affiliate Carolee. I’ll email you all the info.
You’ve got a great story Angela. Yep, we are NEVER too old or far along a certain path to jump off and get on the one that’s been calling us for years. I think often times we ‘settle’ on career choices because of money. But in reality, if we follow our passions and inspirations and are GREAT at what we do, the $$ happens on its own. That’s how abundance works.
Thanks again for a great post.

Hi Marcus,
Thank you for saying that. And totally agree we are never too old to follow our bliss!
Yes – that’s what I did and am still doing – settling because of the money, but I hope to turn that around sometime soon.
And – I think you’re right if we do what we love sooner or later we will be able to make a living doing that.
Thanks so much for visiting and commenting here.
Thank you Angela for partnering with me on the course and for writing such a beautiful post. I truly believe that if someone does the work in this program, they can make significant, measurable changes in their lives that will bring them more happiness and fulfillment. I am so glad you support this important work.

Hi Barrie,
You’re so welcome. I couldn’t endorse something I didn’t find 100 percent helpful myself.
Unearthing my passion and following my dream is the central theme & struggle of my entire life.
You name the book on finding & living your passion – and I’ve read it!
So, to have a friend working on something so near and dear to my heart – made it all the more worthwhile.
Thanks for putting together this fabulous resource for us.
I love your sharing, Angela. We get hit with so many “No’s” through the teenage and early adult years that it is little wonder we lose site of our dreams and aspirations. The good news is, as you have demonstrated; our passion is always available to us when we are willing to look. We have nothing to lose but our fearful demeanor. When we take off those false coverings we can get back in touch with our hidden potential.

Hi Rob,
I’m happy to share as long as it’s helpful to others.
Yes, we do get hit with a lot of “No” in our teenage years, but as you say we can rekindle the flame of our bliss when we’re ready to look.
It’s true part of the problem is that we believe we “should” be this, or that instead of accepting the truth about ourselves.
Thanks so much Rob.
Wonderful timing for such a post and Course with New Year Resolutions around the corner – a time for new beginnings & new commitments!!
Aileen,
I never thought of that! That’s right – with New Year’s resolutions just around the corner – how appropriate.
(But I’m sure Barrie thought of this!)
Hi Angela! Thanks for sharing this wonderful resource. Barrie did a super job creating an awesome product. Living a passionate life is the best gift we can give ourselves and others. I truly believe in following my passion and everything else pretty much takes care of itself.
Loving blessings!

Hi Andrea,
You’re so welcome. It just so happened I had already started this post a while ago – but never finished it!
Barrie’s launch was just the thing it was waiting for!
I agree living a passionate life is the absolutely the way to live – I see that now.
Thanks so much for coming by and visiting with us here Andrea.
They say the best way to predict the future is to create it! I like to feel and sense my way there rather than over plan or paperise it. But visualisation and raw belief go a long way. After all, I we don’t know what we want the Universe certainly can’t provide it. To your future success Angela.

Hi John,
Thanks so much for visiting and joining in the conversation here. I agree – whatever we wish to see in the future – we need to plan and prepare for now. Yes we get back exactly what we put out vibrationally.
Thanks so much for your well wishes too! I wish you all the best as well my friend.
Angela: What a great message. It is never too late to live the life of your dreams. I love that. It is so interesting because I was thinking about writing a post on that, but now I found yours so I can just be inspired by it
This course by Barrie sounds very interesting. Thanks for the recommendation. It must be great because I am seeing it being recommended all over the blogosphere tonight.

It takes a lot of faith to align with our passion when there are bills to pay. I cannot say my road has been easy, it’s a continual process of finding greater alignment. I like your message too: we are never too old to follow our dreams!

Hi Evelyn,
Welcome to Powered by Intuition. It’s a pleasure meeting you!
Yes, it does take faith and courage to align with your passion – especially if you have bills to pay. I couldn’t agree more.
Absolutely – we’re never too old. As long as we’re still breathing there’s time left to start now.
Thanks so much for coming by and adding to the conversation here Evelyn.
Hi Angela,
I love Barrie’s work and am excited to be an affiliate!
One sentence that struck me was “Everything is now aligned with who you are.” Does this mean I could be on my path, following my dream but if I’m doubtful, greedy, untrustworthy things are not going to go well on my path? That line struck me as powerful. Would like to know your thoughts.
Tess The Bold Life recently posted..Discover Your Passion- An Interview with Barrie Davenport
Hi Tess,
I love her course too. It’s excellent!
I loved that sentence too!
Yes, I think you’ve interpreted that sentence brilliantly.
The world reflects who we are inside – as a bliss and passion seeker who is genuinely pure inside (which I believe you are!) – the world aligns to bring you your good! If we’re doubtful, greedy and untrustworthy – we’ll have experiences that validate those beliefs and behaviors.
It’s always so good to connect with you Tess!
It’s funny I run across this article today of all days. I have spent pretty much my entire life wanting to be an author of some sort. I’m not sure when I gave up on that dream, but I did until recently. I started a blog and have been writing as a part time freelancer for the past few months, but yet again I was ready to give up and go get a “normal” job. I look forward to reading the book you have recommended, and thank you for the pick me up in my attitude toward my dream!

I’m glad you’re going to read the book. It’s really excellent!
Please let me know how things are going for you. I’m very happy you came by.
It’s a pleasure “meeting” you Katherine Jean.
